Yummy! It's Eating Time

Hello all from the Vincent Family!! We almost missed our one month posting.
Yesterday the twins turned 15 mos. For those keeping track: Kristina weighs 25lbs 3oz while Tyler weighs 23lbs 3oz. They are growing up fast. So far feeding them has not been much of an issue. They are eating whatever we eat so no more baby food puree's. This makes Mommy's job a whole lot easier. Another thing that makes things easier is the fact that Kristina is signing more and more and has begun asking for things she wants.
As you can see from the photos, feeding time is not a clean time. It is a good thing they still love to squeal and play in the bathtub. They go straight from the dinner table to the tub to story time and finally to bed. Our days are pretty much set in routine from the moment we wake up to the time we go to bed. Favorite activities: going for a walk in our red wagon, eating, playing tug of war with the little dog, and getting into things we are not supposed to (see above)
I just joined a local mom's support and play date group. I am looking forward to the first outing next week.
We've been having freakish weather - it SNOWED in late March. What kind of spring is this turning out to be? At least the tulips are trying to bloom and the daffodils are past blooming. It almost reminds me of the snow falling on poppies in the Wizard of Oz.
All four of us are battling colds. The kids have runny noses all the time and are a little more fussy than usual. The parents seem to be the most sick, who are juggling work, home, and sick babies. Now, if only I could find the source of the bug ... Gramm does not seem to be affected, thank goodness

walking babies!
Hi all. I'll just make a quick note as it is late.
The kids are now both walking! Kristina can now use sign language to ask for more, eat, dog, and sometimes mama and grandma.
Their faces have really grown up. Now that Kristina is on the move, her pudgy cheeks are slimming down.
I hope all is going well... Life is sure full now.
Both Tyler and Kristina have started to test some boundaries. We see many timeouts in the future.

We had a great party. Thanks to all that sent such nice gifts.
There have been some big events to share with you all.
On 12/31/2007, Kristina took her "official" first steps. All those other times were really "falling with style". She now can walk several steps, in a straight line, between two people.
On 1/6/2008, Tyler took his first "official" first steps. He took to walking really quick. He has passed his sister in progress toward being able to start walking on his own.
On 1/8/2006, Kristina is now hand signing "more". As the song goes, put your finger tips together, for more, more, more. For those parents with the DVD, "Baby signing time", that song will forever be in your head. There may be reports that she was signing it a few days earlier
, but it doesn't count until Daddy sees it. HA. She now signs, "more" on just about every bite of food.
This last week, we managed to get them off the bottle. They didn't even know they were missing it. They now get sippy cups.
Tyler is now close to 50th percentile on just about every measurement. Kristina is in the 90% percentile. They are both wearing 18M sized outfits. They should be close to 24 month size by mid-summer. Kristina is 24 lbs and Tyler is 22 lbs.

X-Mas Letter 2007
December 2007
Seasons Greetings Friends and Family!
It seems I’m running a bit behind this year. All of a sudden, Thanksgiving has come, and gone, and I’m just starting the yearly holiday letter. But, then again, twins will do that.
As most of you know, I had an emergency caesarian section on Jan 4th ending my three months of bed rest and bringing the twins into our lives five weeks early. Tyler Jason weighed in at 5 lbs 9 oz, 47 cm long. Kristina Amy weighed in at 5 lbs 5 oz, 45 cm long. Tyler is two minutes older than his sister (who is currently 2 lbs heavier). After ten days in the neonatal ICU, we brought the twins home on a blustery snowy day. Our lives have not been the same since. Everything we do centers around the babies’ schedule.
They may be twins, but they are very different from each other. Kristina just likes to cuddle and be held. She currently has four teeth, brown hair, green eyes and weighs 22 lbs 10 oz. Heaven forbid she should miss a meal. Tyler won’t hold still; is crawling and getting into everything. He loves it when daddy spins him in the air. Every time I think I have things baby proofed, they prove to me I haven’t. Tyler currently has three teeth just barely cutting through, some blonde hair, brown eyes and weighs 21 lbs. Heaven forbid he should have to hold still long enough for his diaper to be changed. They both love to go on walks in their stroller and they giggle at the dogs and cats when they get close (especially Stuart Little).
I was fortunate to spend the first 8 months with the babies at home. I enjoyed every minute of it. In late August, I went back to work part time. Although I miss the people I worked with in Longview, I do not miss the commute. My 90 minute round trip commute has been converted to a 6-7 minute commute. What a savings on gas alone! The new clinic already feels like home. I enjoyed being back at work so much that my two day week quickly became a three day week with alternating Saturday shifts with NO pager duty. The kids and I are lucky to have a wonderful Nanny Gramm living close by to watch the kids while Jason and I work. She spoils us all!
Jason is starting his 3rd year at Precash, Inc. as a software engineer. He is still taking the bus over the bridge to Portland every day. He feels fortunate to have found a secure position in his field close to home. In July he hiked to the crater rim of Mt Saint Helens. He was sore for a week, and lost a toenail, but had quite an experience climbing an active volcano.
Our health is great... now. I scared Jason on November 1st (AGAIN, first being the c-section, now this.) when I called him at work from the emergency room and told him the surgeons were being consulted. I went in with abdominal pain and returned home a few days later after two anesthetic procedures, one of which was to remove my gallbladder. That didn’t stop me from going to my mother’s birthday party on November 3rd and going back to work in one week. The biggest inconvenience was that I couldn’t lift anything over 10 lbs for three weeks. Poor Jason had to do all baby duty and my mother had to work five days a week. We’re all just happy I recovered so well.

Happy Holidays!
Hi everyone!
Well the holiday season is here! Whoo HOOOOOO!
I'm sipping on a nice hot cup of apple cider while typing this. We just got back inside from the cold December rain while setting up our Christmas lights; for the second time. I hung the lights 2 weeks ago, but didn't test them until they were all installed. Wouldn't you know it that 3/4 of all the lights were out.
The latest news is that both kids are MOBILE! Ahhhh. Kristina has just learned to crawl this week. Kristina has also learned to shimmy, while standing up, along all walls, tables, chairs, and the like. She still isn't as fast as Tyler, though. Sheesh, you take your eyes off Tyler for a minute and you know he's into something he shouldn't. One has to listen for that guilty little giggle, and then you know for sure. He loves moss from the house plants and the dog water dish. Catch him late with the water and he'll need a change of clothes. Tyler will shimmy along stuff too, but he is much faster at crawling.
We think Kristina will be the first to walk. She manages to fall/stumble between Amy and I, while remaining on her feet. You'll see on the video below.

Amy is feeling better than she has in a long time. She didn't realize just how uncomfortable she has been for such a long time. Who needs a galbladder anyway?

The biggest news for me is that I now have a new provider for our websites. If you hadn't noticed, there aren't any more ads. Hurray. There was a time when the site wasn't coming up. That was the enough for me to change providers. I'm working on some custum applications for thevincentfamily.com. I now have a gallery, and a wiki. Thank goodness all the firefighters were OK.
Dad reports that the fire got within 500ft from up the ridge and 500 ft east of the house. YIKES!
About the Kids - Kristina has popped a fourth tooth and Tyler has just started to be able to stand in place for about 30 seconds. We're still waiting for Kristina to start crawling, but she loves standing at the edge of the coffee table.

Back to normal.
Hi all.
Amy is home and doing great. Amy's mom has really worked hard the last week watching the kids while I'm at work and Amy can't lift the kids. Amy is restricted to lift only 10 lbs or less. The kids each weight over 25 lbs. They certainly have no problems eating.
The Silverado fire is finally out and my parents have been able to move back home. There is a lot of clean up, but at least the house was untouched by fire. Here is the oc register website that was covering the fire. http://www.ocregister.com/ocregister/sections/news/firecentral/.

Coming back to normal. - almost.
Hi all,
Amy is back at home and recovering from surgery. The gallbladder is out. She feels much better!
My Dad remains evacuated from Silverado canyon from the major fire they had there. He was allowed back there with an escort. He said there was definitely some firefighters busy around his lot. The word was that his house was serving as an attack point to be able to save his house and 4 others surrounding it.
My mother goes in for neck surgery to relieve some pain from arthritis this week. Hopefully all will be back to normal soon.

Amy in the Hospital
Hi all.
Amy is in the hospital with Gallbladder issues. She is going in for surgery tonight to have it removed. She gave me quite a scare when she called me at work and said that she had been admitted to the hospital.
The CA fire is still not fully contained and my parents remain evacuated from thier silverado home. From the maps, it looks like the fire got to about 1000 feet from thier house. Let's hope the santa ana winds don't whip things up again.
